On the evening of December 11th, the Westchester-Fairfield Friends of Seeds of Peace honored John Wallach at a Gala Dinner and Concert benefiting Seeds of Peace. The very successful event took place at the Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts in Katonah, NY and featured a performance by world-renown pianist Yefim Bronfman.
Chairpersons Lynne Brofman and Evy Frankel and Honorary Chairpersons Alon Pinkas, Consul General of Israel in New York; Siad Hamad, Deputy Chief Representative of the Palestine National Authority in the United States; Jafar Hassan, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Jordan; and Mohamad El Zorkany, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Egypt welcomed Friends of Seeds of Peace from the Westchester County Region of New York and the Fairfield County area of Connecticut for an elegant and intimate night of fine dining and music.
The program included testimony from four Seeds of Peace International Program alumni: Hend Medhat of Egypt, Bushra Jawabri of the Palestine National Authority, Keren Greenblatt of Israel, and Fadi El Salameen of the Palestine National Authority. Mr. Bronfman’s brilliant performance culminated with a duet featuring Seeds of Peace alumni Rami Qubein of Jordan on violin.
In the event finale the young Seeds, on behalf of the Westchester-Fairfield Friends Committee, presented John Wallach with a special award to honor him for his incredible achievements and contribution to global peace. In honoring John Wallach, Keren Greenblatt passionately asserted, “Seeds of Peace is a voice. It’s the voice of over 1500 people, and hundreds more staff and other associated people. It is the voice of these people who are living in this world, and understand what the problems with it are, on their flesh. These people grieve; these people suffer, get injured, get hurt, die, cry and yell out as a consequence of the wrongs of this world. You can’t know this, and say that these people, who also represent thousands and millions more, are wrong.”
