JERUSALEM | 27 Israeli, Palestinian, and American Seeds took part in a seminar exploring the impact of borders on their lives through tours, workshops, and dialogue.
The April 27-29 BORDERS Program was held in Jerusalem and included visits to the West Bank, the Golan Heights, and the borders with Gaza and Jordan.
“The Seeds discussed their experiences engaging with and encountering borders, checkpoints, and treaty lines, and explored the physical boundaries around us and the internal boundaries within us,” said Seeds of Peace’s Orlando Arellano, who organized the seminar.
In the Golan Heights, the Seeds met with United Nations peacekeepers monitoring the ceasefire between Israel and Syria as well as with local civil leaders in Majd Al Shams. The Seeds also held a dialogue session at Arab Center for Development of the Golan.
During a parallel tour at the Gaza border, the Seeds spoke with members of Other Voice, a grassroots volunteer initiative of Palestinian and Israeli civilians from both sides of the fence that are calling for an end to the siege and for an end to attacks from both sides.
At the border with Jordan, the group was greeted by Jordanian Seeds and held a final dialogue session next to the Jordan River.
