NEW YORK | At the Seeds of Peace annual New York Gala Dinner, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdulla of Jordan, was presented with the Peacemaker Award by newly-appointed President of Seeds of Peace, Nicolla Hewitt. Queen Rania accepted the award on behalf of herself and His Majesty King Abdullah of Jordan.
In presenting the award to Her Majesty, Hewitt said: “It is an honor to be presenting one of the world’s greatest peacemakers with this award. Her commitment to the Seeds of Peace mission is unparalleled. Her Majesty Queen Rania’s commitment to working throughout the Middle East and on the world stage to educate children of conflict and provide opportunities to create peace makes her a worthy recipient.”
Ted Koppel was also honored for his outstanding contribution to journalism. Several Seeds of Peace graduates also spoke at the event, providing compelling testimonials of their experiences both at and after Camp. The event was held on May 7, 2007 at the Pierre Hotel in New York City.
