Sen. Susan Collins was pleased to welcome Tim Wilson, Vice President of Seeds of Peace, into her Washington, D.C. office today, and congratulate him on being named a recipient of the 2006 Peace Corps Franklin H. Williams Award. Wilson serves as the Director of both Seeds of Peace International Camp in Otisfield and the Seeds of Peace Center for Coexistence in Jerusalem.
“Tim Wilson has been an integral part of Seeds of Peace since the organization was founded 16 years ago. He has dedicated his life to educating, encouraging, and empowering the next generation of world leaders and preparing them for the arduous task of peacemaking. I congratulate him on being named a recipient of this prestigious award,” said Senator Collins.
Wilson is one of eleven returned Peace Corps volunteers of color from across the nation who will be recognized with the Franklin H. Williams Award at the Paul D. Coverdell Peace Corps Headquarters in Washington, D.C. tonight.
Established in 1999, the Franklin H. Williams Award pays tribute to returned Peace Corps volunteers of color who continue the Peace Corps mission through their commitment to community service, and who support the agency’s third goal of promoting a better understanding of other peoples on the part of Americans.
Tim Wilson served in the Peace Corps in Thailand from 1962 to 1965.
