JERUSALEM | Seeds of Peace brought together over 160 young Palestinians this June and July at two different Bara’em El Salaam (“Buds of Peace”) camps in the occupied Palestinian territories.
More than 100 young Gazans worked with a team of 20 Seeds and Educators to develop conflict transformation skills during a six-day camp held from June 11 to 17 in the Gaza Strip.
In Jenin, around 50 10-12 years old spent four days from July 1-4 in group discussions, workshops, and community dialogues led by 12 Seeds and six Seeds of Peace educators.
The camp in Gaza incorporated trauma relief exercises that allowed young participants to openly discuss their fears, hopes, and the daily impact of the occupation on their lives. They also had opportunities to express themselves through writing, art, and music.
Ninety-eight percent of the West Bank Bara’em El Salaam participants said they learned a new skill, and 99% said that they would want to participate in future camps.
