Pakistani Seeds Qasim and Ayyaz joined forces to create The History Project, which develops textbooks that juxtapose histories taught in Pakistani and Indian school. Here, they share their journey with us—where the idea for the project came from, how they’re bringing it into schools, and what their dreams are moving forward.

This is such a monumental and profound idea. I applaud your work and look forward to reading this history book myself.
How valuable it would be if other ethnic groups in conflict adopted the approach of Qasim & Ayyaz. I am thinking of the various groups living together in the new countries of former Yugoslavia, for example.
Great work, wonderful idea!
Years ago, I did the word-association thing in a classroom of Israeli high school students about Palestinians. The results (‘Arab?’ ‘Terrorist! Enemy! Dirty!’) were – if not entirely unexpected – nonetheless shocking. It was part of a project by the Van Leer Institute to get teachers in Israel to try to get Israeli boys and girls to take a less automatically hostile attitude to ‘the other’. Although at the time it did make some headway, alas, there seems to be no such initiative now, and how badly needed it is – never more so. So all honour and good luck to you, Seeds of Peace. I wish I could help.
What a beautiful example of the life-changing outcomes that can come from peacemaking programs for children like Seeds of Peace! Truly encouraging!
Qasim, Ayyaz and their team have done a commendable job. This is what Seeds of Peace has instilled in us: “Look at both side of the picture before arriving to a conclusion. Learn and educate each other about your respective perspectives and be ready to accept the truth”.
Among very few things that I am proud of is being a Seed of Peace.
Brilliant! A very valuable concept that would work in all conflicted cultures. Israeli/Palestine conflict immediately comes to mind.
Maybe this concept could be the answer to finally bringing peace to that region.
Wonderful! I think it might be revolutionary. Hats off.
Thumbs up for you guys and hoping to get this book asap. Keep the good work on … 🙂
