JERUSALEM | Seeds of Peace partnered with the Al-Auja EcoCenter in the Jordan Valley to provide 23 Palestinian Seeds with a better understanding of the history and environmental challenges facing the region.
The Seeds learned about five different locations within the Jordan Valley and learned about how the Israeli military occupation and lack of cooperation between Israel and Jordan have affected people living in the valley as well as its natural resources, particularly water.
Participants were surprised and intrigued by the environmental issues that face the Jordan Valley.
“It’s sad how the Dead Sea that is one of the world’s wonders is now getting smaller due to the lack of cooperation between states,” said one of the participants.
The day ended with a group discussion and a question and answer panel at the EcoCenter.
“It’s important that we always learn about issues that are getting affected due to the lack of a peace agreement,” said another participant.
