NEW YORK | Eighteen Pakistani and 15 Afghan Seeds, and 9 of their friends, gathered for a crossborder videoconference on June 20.
The virtual meeting helped participants understand the significance of recent developments in each other’s countries.
“I was amazed to see the energetic youth from across the border interacting with each other on the hot issues between Pakistan and Afghanistan,” said one participant. “There is much more to discuss in order to eliminate misconceptions present on both sides of the border.”
Pakistani Seeds delivered a presentation on the recent operation against the Taliban carried out by the government in North Waziristan, and then answered questions about Talibanization and peace talks within Pakistan.
Afghan Seeds then presented about their country’s recent elections, and the process of democratic development in Afghanistan. The Seeds noted that the 2014 election marks the first instance in Afghan history that power will be transferred democratically to the next government.
