Dear Seeds of Peace family,
I hope this note finds you all well. I am sending all good wishes to you, your families, and of course our Seeds of Peace family for a meaningful 2018.
Unfortunately, I am writing today to share tragic news. Yesterday, our own Will Steinberg, American Seed 2015 and PS 2016, was killed in a plane crash in Costa Rica, along with his parents and two brothers. They were at the end of a much anticipated family trip.
Will was a beloved member of our Seeds family and an active participant in many programs. His parents Bruce and Irene were champions of our mission in their own community as well.
I think all who knew Will remember his quiet yet strong leadership style, immense kindness, and huge heart.
I have a vivid image in my head of Will standing in the middle of the Camp road behind line-up with an enormous smile on his face, inviting those around him to join him in conversation and laughter.
Will had a deep sense of ambition as well, and political aspirations inspired by his time at Seeds of Peace and his time with all of you.
We will share more details in the days ahead and create space to come together as a Seeds of Peace community and grieve and reflect together. But for now, I can only hope that you will find comfort in each other at this difficult time.
I have taken comfort in hearing from so many of you and reading your posts over the past day—thank you for your beautiful words.
Stay strong, and remember Will’s smile in this difficult moment.
Rest in peace, Will.
With sadness,
Leslie
