NEW YORK | Noted American philanthropist Kathryn W. Davis has pledged $500,000 to challenge Seeds of Peace supporters to make a direct contribution to Seeds of Peace.
The contribution and subsequent impact would then be doubled through the Davis commitment. Contributions to the Davis Challenge must exceed $125,000 by December 31 each year over the next four years in order to receive a match in an equal amount from Mrs. Davis.
Mrs. Davis’s commitment will advance the cause of peace in the Middle East through programs led by graduates of the Seeds of Peace Camp, or ‘Seeds.’ These programs are designed to develop their leadership skills while fostering mutual respect, trust.
Mrs. Davis, now 101, is a noted author and has worked with the Council on Foreign Relations. She is also the recipient of several awards, including the 2006 Woodrow Wilson Award of Public Service.
“We all need to talk more—not to our friends, but to our enemies,” Davis said. “And I think that through talking, and not fighting, we might come to some agreement—or agree to disagree and get along anyway.”
