JERUSALEM | Twenty American, Egyptian, Israeli, Pakistani, and Palestinian educators attended Seeds of Peace’s “Cultivating and Connecting Communities” workshop from December 8-11 in Tochni, Cyprus.
The workshop served as an opportunity for Seeds of Peace Educators, parents, artists, and community leaders to meet, share best practices for working with youth and adults, and work together to encourage community and leadership.
“This workshop was really meaningful to me in all aspects,” said one participant. “I’ve gained knowledge, skills, tools, and above all, insights. I run a group of educators and I’m willing to use some of the strategies I learned with my group.”
“The purpose of our time to support one another and to reflect, share plans, challenges, concerns, hopes, ideas,” said Seeds of Peace Director of Educator Programs Daniel Moses.
“It also encouraged community, creativity, critical thinking, civic engagement, leadership, cross-cultural respect and understanding.”
The four-day gathering took place in a village that was a site of conflict in 1974.
“We heard from the owner of the venue and from other locals about the history of the area, which resonated very much with the group,” said Moses. “The venue and the people, our neighbors, contributed to the overall atmosphere and success of this workshop.”
