Short Programs details
Cost: Free
Grade: Current 9th to 12th graders
Open to: Youth based in the United States
Location: Anywhere! This is a virtual program.
Every month, we will run a different short program (four evening meetings over the course of two weeks) that focus on a specific topic like protest art, dialogue skills, and activism and advocacy. This is a great way to add skills and knowledge to your toolkit while in conversation with other youth from around the United States.
October: Examining Systems of Oppression
Dates: Tuesday and Thursday, October 12, 14, 19, and 21 | 7-8:30 p.m. Eastern (4-5:30 p.m. Pacific)
Join us for this four-session program that explores the systems of oppression present in our world. Together, we will identify the impact that different systems have on different people and communities. We will also think critically about ways to take action to lessen the impact that these systems have in our world.
November: Navigating Red-Blue Divides
Dates: Tuesday and Thursday, November 9, 11, 16, and 18 | 7-8:30 p.m. Eastern (4-5:30 p.m. Pacific)
There are two things we are often told we shouldn’t talk about … religion and politics. Well, we disagree! Join us to translate the basic dialogue and communication skills we teach in our facilitator trainings at Seeds of Peace to your politics-specific conversations with friends, teachers, or family members. We will also take time to explore the origins of political ideologies, think about commitments and reservations about our personal political beliefs, and discover our own personal language for talking about politics.
