KABUL | Seeds in Afghanistan have organized an oral history project to collect the stories of their fellow Afghans.
In Afghanistan, as well as in countries that have lost generations to instability and disorder, inspiring stories often go unheard, even worse, untold.
“Through this project I can learn a new way of expressing all those stories that have dried up on every single Afghan’s lips,” says project participant Feroz.
The 13 Seeds in the “2011 Stories from Kabul” initiative will record interviews with their elders. Some are nostalgic tales of their youth and how things were for them. Others are filled with accounts of misery and suffering; some contain heroic tales of childhood mischievousness.
The stories will be published later this year.
