In 2000, Seeds of Peace launched its first United States-focused initiative, working to address tensions in Maine as a result of rapidly changing demographics.
The Maine Seeds leadership program begins with a transformative two-week experience at the Seeds of Peace Camp and continues with year-round local and school-based activities that bridge divides and create positive change in schools and communities.
The program works in partner schools across the state and has resulted in tremendous impact at the individual, school, and policy levels.
Maine Seeds hold leadership positions in their school governments, sit on their district School Boards, and run activities and dialogue programs in their schools to foster positive relationships and more inclusive school cultures.
